Karuna Guesthouse is a family-run guesthouse located in the North of Iceland. The farm is located on road 75 between Varmahlíð and Saudarkrokur.
We offer all year accommodation, both in Gulluhús, a cozy house with 5 bedrooms, all twin /double rooms with 2 shared bathrooms with shower and also in the old farm house that has been renovated. In the old farm house is the lounge and 5 larger rooms that are all equipped with tea facilities and private bathroom with shower.
These rooms accommodate one double room, two triple rooms, one quadruple room ( family of four) and one family room for 5, they all have private entrance. They are not included in Gulluhus, ie. it needs to go outside to enter a shered kitchen and lounge.
Shared kitchen with coffee maker, toaster and main gadgets for simple cooking. Guests are welcome to make use of the kitchen and the lounge area.
Free WiFi in all rooms.
We are located on a farm where we have a magnificent view, horses on grazing, hens on a paddock and a few dogs at play. Here we offer comfort and peace, whether you walk around our garden or are interested in a longer walk down the river and enjoy the peace and the bird song. The midnight sun and the Northern Lights at Karuna Guesthouse are unforgettable and will leave no one untouched on a peaceful evening.
Skagafjörður is very well known for all the activities in the area such as horseback riding and river rafting. In Skagafjörður you can also visit many museums, go bathing in nature pools, see waterfallas an explore the amazing bird live we have in the area. Go sailing and climbing in our beautiful islands is also something you should not miss out on.
Varmahlíð, where there is a great swimming pool with a slide and a good outdoor area where you can walk around, like Reykjahóll. There is also a shop, fuel and catering.
In Sauðárkrókur there are grocery store, swimming pool, beauty salons and more. Just outside Sauðárkrókur there is a golf course and ski area in Tindastóll.

We are Linda and Pall and we live in Litla- Gröf along with our children, dogs, hens and horses. “We loved everything about this place. The owner is helpful and charming. Her cute dog greeted us. The setting was spectacular, with an awesome view from the room. We stayed in one of the new rooms. It was large, great beds, nice linens and pillows. Quiet. We saw the northern lights at night! In the morning, we ate with other travelers in the sunny sitting room. Very basic self serve breakfast, but that was fine. Very homey. Location near Glaumbaer sod houses was a plus.”

The owner does a fantastic job taking care of everything, stocking fresh breakfast each day, towels, shampoo, etc. The kitchen was also fully stocked with everything we could ever need. The owner is also super kind and helpful with information about the local area. Finally, the location was perfect for us: it’s less than 10 minutes driving from two very cute and lovely towns, but the guesthouse is in the middle of Iceland’s most stunning natural views. We had a really wonderful experience at Karuna!”
